im an atheist and would like to know ?

People have their beliefs, their faith, just because we have a different idea to them does not make them thick! There are quite a few, on both sides, who can be downright insulting and deserve, in my view, all the contempt someone can lay upon them. I'm an atheist too, and although some of the posts here deserve a sarcastic reply, I would rather think there are a few who would prefer serious questions and also answers.

To be fair so are the largest majority of atheists and agnostics. That's not an insult to you guys on here - I'm referring to those countless millions that affiliate with no religion; just due to lack of any education or thought towards anything of a higher order than themselves.

There are a lot of uneducated religious people - particularly in the Muslim east. But, if you have ever read some of the Hindu or Buddhist philosophy it would be very unfair to claim they are thick.

And you're smarter because you take on what the popular current of society is telling you to take on right now- eg, God does not exist ect? Being a sheep is smart is it?

Following the crowd becasue it panders to your ability to feel superior, smarter than others?

"Religious people" - they're all exactly the same are they? You've travelled around the world, talked to many people in different situations, countries, cultures? Or is the only valid culture the western one- think that's what we thought a couple hundred (not even that much) years ago when we thought it was ok to invade and impose our views on others. Essentially we thought we were smarter than others- that turned out to be a roaring sucess for everyone envolved didn't it!

People who ask silly little questions thinkin they're lil' bit smart/witty are the epitomy of "bit thick"

Probably because most of the religious people you know were indoctrinated from birth and then subject to the world`s number 32 (and falling) general education system.

Blame the system as it creates what it needs, in their case under-educated, mind controlled drones with a hatred for foreigners.

It's normal to think they're a bit thick because their beliefs require the acceptance of ideas and phenomenon which to you are obviously impossible, making them seem ignorant rather than merely different-minded.

It is simply that they are taught from a very young age to NEVER question the faith.
