Do you agree with this pre-election assessment, that no matter who won, it was a win-win?

7 AnswersElections9 years agoIs this a problem that can happen if the US went to the "popular vote"?
1960:
In the national popular vote, Kennedy beat Nixon by just one tenth of one percentage point (0.1%)—the closest popular-vote margin of the 20th century. In the Electoral College, Kennedy's victory was larger, as he took 303 electoral votes to Nixon's 219.
In 1960, there were "only" 70 million votes cast.
Could you imagine a NATION WIDE HAND-RECOUNT of nearly 120 million votes, as were cast in 2012?

"U.S. to overtake Saudi as top oil producer: IEA"
"The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world's top oil producer by 2017, the West's energy agency said on Monday, predicting Washington will come very close to achieving a previously unthinkable energy self-sufficiency.
The IEA said it saw a continued fall in U.S. oil imports with North America becoming a net oil exporter by around 2030 and the United States becoming almost self-sufficient in energy by 2035."
6 AnswersElections9 years agoIs this the new Obama scandal, according to the GOP?
Last year, Obama hired a woman to write the biography of Gen Petraeus.
But, actually, Obama hired her to seduce him.
Because, Obama hated the US Ambassador to Libya, and rather than fire him, Obama wanted to have him killed because Obama does not care about the Constitution.
So, Obama ordered a film to be made that would piss off Muslims, and to shut up the director, he had him arrested and jailed.
Then, Obama called his friends in the Muslim Brotherhood and told them to begin the attack.
When the CIA wanted to go in and stop it, Obama, personally, told them to back off.
Then, to cover everything up, Obama had Gen Petraeus resign due to the affair he had, so Gen Petraeus would not have to testify before congress.
DAMN, Obama is GOOD!
12 AnswersElections9 years agoChristians - do you agree with the US led law soon to be passed in Uganda?
"Uganda's penal code criminalizes homosexuality, but in 2009 a lawmaker with the ruling party said a stronger law was needed to protect Uganda's children from homosexuals."
Will the next law they pass be to outlaw Priests, for the same reason?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs the solution to winning for the GOP to not CHANGE their positions, but to stop TALKING about them?
Still WANT no immigration reform, but, not speak of it?
Still WANT to control a woman's reproductive system, but don't answer question about it?
Still WANT to end Medicare, but, not tell seniors that?
Still WANT to privatize Social Security, but not tell retirees?
Still UNDERSTAND how God wants a woman to get pregnant if she is raped, because, it probably wasn't REAL rape anyway, because her body shuts down her reproductive cycle for a REAL rape, just stop TALKING about this "advanced science" only they know of?
6 AnswersElections9 years agoAre people watching "The Men Who Built America" on the History Channel right now?
They are up to the part where Rockefeller, JP Morgan, Westinghouse, Carnegie, and others, started to lay off workers from their companies and force the rest to work in unsafe conditions for less pay, and expect that they should be HAPPY with that.
Of course, this was all done for the single reason of Maximizing Profit.
Finally, (I believe at 8 pm EST) they will get to the parts where-
Henry Ford did the opposite (paid his workers more, and yet STILL made craploads of profit)
the rise of the Unions and Government regulations (Which the GOP wants to get rid of)
the busting up of the monopolies (that the GOP wants to be allowed to return).
Sound familiar?
If you missed any of the episodes, you can watch them online.
That is, if you care about learning.
13 AnswersPolitics9 years agoNow that Boehner says "he wants to work with Obama"......?
.......will the GOP kick him out of the Speaker's role?
7 AnswersElections9 years agoIs it fine that GOP supporters learned nothing from the election if their Congressmen didn't either?
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, continues to receive pushback from fellow Republicans over his efforts toward conciliation with Democrats after their election victory.
Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., speaking on Fox News Sunday, said he disagreed with Boehner’s suggestion that President Obama’s reelection would end GOP efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Price said “no” when asked if he agreed with Boehner.
“I can tell you, as a physician, we're not opposed to the president's health care law because of this election. We're opposed because it's bad policy and it's bad for patients all across this land,” Price said.
Boehner recently said "the election changes that" when asked if he will continue efforts to repeal the law. “Obamacare is the law of the land,” he said.
4 AnswersElections9 years agoDo you agree that, for the most part, the truly smart people during the dark ages were....?
...non-believers in religion?
That they were smart enough to understand that if they actually SAID they were non-believers, they would be tortured and killed?
People like Copernicus, Francis Bacon, Descartes, William of Occam, John Philoponus, Jean Buridan, and Newton?
BQ - Can you imagine all the great science that was LOST due to people who actually KNEW religion was bogus, said so, and WERE tortured and murdered by the Church?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy do creationists INSIST that the American English Coonhound cannot exist?
500 years ago, there were no American English Coonhounds. Yet now, there are.
But, according to creationists, this is IMPOSSIBLE.
Combining two different breeds of animals to get a THIRD breed of animal is EVOLUTION, and, of COURSE "as evolution is false", it SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HAPPEN.
"American English Coonhounds trace their origin to dogs brought to the New World by settlers in the 17th and 18th centuries. Like other coonhounds, this hunting dog is, according to the WKC, “pleasant, alert, confident and sociable with both humans and dogs.”
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs this a typical conversation with a creationist?
Rational person - "If I add 1 + 1, I get 2, right?"
Creationist - "Yes. "
Rational person - "If I add ANOTHER 1, I get 3, right?"
Creationist - "Yes. "
Rational person - "If I add ANOTHER 1, I get 4, right?"
Creationist - "No! That is so messed up!."

8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDo you agree with my reasoning below? Where is the flaw in my logic?
Assume God exists, then, assume the four scenarios below.
A) If you pray for something to be done that God will not do, it will not be done, so -
prayer is useless.
B) If you pray for something to be NOT be done that God WILL do, it WILL be done, so -
prayer is useless.
C) If you pray for something to be done that God was going to do ANYWAY, it will be done ANYWAY, so-
prayer is useless.
D) If you pray for something to NOT be done that God was NOT going to do ANYWAY, it will NOT be done ANYWAY, so-
prayer is useless.
These are the only four possible scenarios. All of them lead to the same logical conclusion -
"Prayer is Useless."
Where is the flaw in my logic?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWas the lesson from last week's election...?
...that the GOP learned nothing, thereby assuring President Obama that, after the 2014 election, he will have a Democratically-controlled House back and a Democratic Senate with a filibuster-proof majority?
