Thank you, President Obama?

"U.S. to overtake Saudi as top oil producer: IEA"

"The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world's top oil producer by 2017, the West's energy agency said on Monday, predicting Washington will come very close to achieving a previously unthinkable energy self-sufficiency.

The IEA said it saw a continued fall in U.S. oil imports with North America becoming a net oil exporter by around 2030 and the United States becoming almost self-sufficient in energy by 2035."

Why are you thanking Obama? This is happening in spite of his efforts.

Actually the Saudis are switching to green energy and winding down oil. They are investing in huge solar energy projects all over the kingdom, one being building a complete new city in the desert, powered on solar and bio fuels energy. A similar model is already completed in Malmo Sweden. German engineering is heavily involved, and providing vital infrastructure China too is investing in renewable clean sustainable energy.

The US is working towards being foreign oil free eventually, but the future is in sustainable fossil free clean energy. China is looking towards europe for expertise and therefore providing future jobs for major european economies the strongest is Germany. Germany has always and continuously invested in manufacturing. The US economy is more service based, the same jobs can be done elsewhere much cheaper.

President Obama is right to invest in US infrastructure, education, and scientific research, but i don't think Americans have noticed how fast the world is moving towards the new energy future.
