Why do politicians feel the need to "mudsling"?

Personally, I'd rather hear how politicians would fix the problem instead of hearing them say what the other politician is doing wrong.

Update:

For some reason, it seems like both sides are mud-slinging and taking things from context. I'm definitely an Independent voter since I don't see myself as a liberal or a conservative. guess i'm sitting on the fence.

That's because the people love it.

How many ordinary people will take the time to understand why a bill that has a nice title gets changed so it won't be passed?

    How many know that happens?

Its nice to say you want to hear how they'll fix it, but we aren't talking a leaky sink, there is no fix for a world economy, and the desire of the wealthy to stay that way no matter what, or greed, or human nature.

So what are they going to say? One side offered hope and change and the other side offered not to do anything but make sure the country was miserable long enough to elect them instead.

Mudslinging would be a relief, its the posturing and lying I'm tired of, but we haven't got the maturity to say some things take time, and you need both sides working to find common ground for the country.

    Not their party bosses.

Obama and the Democrats have nothing else.
