OSI question for Airforce persons in this field?

I just want to know if someone is allowed to disclose that they are OSI and is telling someone on facebook who threatens to hack their government computer through facebook that they have now been investigated by the US Government? And, are they allowed to play on facebook through a Government computer? Saw a crazy conversation on facebook and just wondered why on earth this person would disclose what he is or does and/or try to put the fear of God in someone. I am very curious about this. I'm an Army brat and my Daddy served 20+ years, and I thought a lot of Intel matters weren't disclosed publicly, am I wrong? Thank You all kindly!

Update:

My father passed away 20 years ago, or I would just simply ask him. This bothers me because this person has people scared that he can investigate any of them for no apparent reason. Am I right in thinking just talking shiat is a crime against the Goverment?

believe it or not, facebook IS allowed on government computers for morale purposes - at least while DEPLOYED downrange. it may be different at permanent bases.

the government network has pelnty of safeguards in place to keep people from the outside from hacking into their network or a person's government PC. it's not impossible to do, but most OSI agents aren't going to be that savy and would have to enlist the help of network and system administrators to get that done.

i don't know if an OSI agent would self-disclose or not on facebook. wouldn't make any sense to me. if you were an agent - why would you want to 'tip off' someone you may be investigating? so they could 'cook the books'? dispose of evidence? i think someone is playing a game. an OSI agent will question someone in person, and will present identification as an OSI agent before asking any questions - that is standard procedure. my guess is they won't do it online. i think your chain is being yanked.

and you are correct - "intel" is never to be discussed on non-secure networks, certainly not the internet. if you believe you have seen what could be sensitive information disclosed online, on facebook, grab a screen shot, and contact your local FBI office. you may just stop the next 'wiki leaks' contributor!
