Do you think that it is right for a lesbian couple to change the sex?.......................?

of a/their child just because they think they want to change from a boy to a girl? Is that not child abuse? Children are protected by state and government until the age of 18 yrs old, right?

Update:

The child may feel what he or she want to be, but are there laws to prevent a child from making that decision with parent's agreement to do this until they are of age? Is is legal? The child may change it's mind later on, and then the decision is already made to do it prior. I don't know, just curious! This is major surgery, and change may be too painful for the child to bare.

I was taking my daughter to get breast reduction surgery at age 14, but the State would not let me because she was too young and still growing (developing/maturing).

How are they going to change the childs sex?

They're not. They're only allowing their daughter to live the way she needs to live. Forcing her to live like the boy she is not would be child abuse.

Edit: No, there are no such laws; they would themselves constitute child abuse. If you're so concerned about this, you need to educate yourself about the issues. Get all the facts you can before constructing pie-in-the-sky scenarios. Here, read this website: http://www.mermaidsuk.org.uk/ Mermaids has specialised in advocacy for trans kids and their proper treatment for years.

None of the treatments used on trans kids are irreversible so even in the rare occasion that a child might detransition no permanent harm is ever done.

It's not any parent's decision to make, whatever their sexuality.

Do you have the same concern for LGBT minors thrown out of their homes by bigoted parents?

its not abusive, abit odd and selfish, but not abusive. It would be abusive if they created a mad science lab in their basement and changed the kids sex on their own without any hospital help.
