do people with sickle cell anemia produce normal red blood cells?
i know some of the stuff about sickle cells and their effects on the body and how it happens and stuff, but do people with this condition produce only normal red blood cells from the red bone marrow or are they already sickle cell from the start of production?

People with sickle cell TRAIT have about half normal red cells from their production in the marrow; those with DISEASE have all sickle red cells. The hemoglobin is assembled in the marrow, and according to the genes responsible for its production is either regular or sickle type.
