People are aware of the origin from the comic books so spending 1/3 of the movie telling what we already know is wasting time .

There were no origin stories in The Avengers. At most, there was a short recap of their previous movies for those who haven't seen them, or those who may have forgotten.
Origin stories can be important in showing the development of the protagonist. So, while you may be aware of the basics of the origin story (though comic book characters sometimes have varying stories), in the context of a narrative film it helps with character development to see a character before, during, and after.
