Agree or disagree: Mike Trout is the AL MVP halfway through the MLB season?

Well, almost halfway (74-75 games)

Los Angeles Angels before Mike Trout: 6-14

Los Angeles Angels after Mike Trout: 36-19

Mike Trout's 2012 stats so far: .344 average, 7 HR, 30 RBI, 47 Runs, 21 SB, .402 OBP, .532 Slugging, .934 OPS

Extras: 218 AB, 75 hits, 14 doubles, 3 triples, 21 walks, 46K, 87.5% SB success rate (21/24)

If you disagree, give a explanation for who you believe is the 1st half AL MVP

Update:

I don't remember saying that lol. I love talking about first-half awards

Update 2:

At Detroit fan: His first few games doesn't matter and obviously, voters don't care if you miss games, as evident by Mauer's 2009 MVP and Hamilton's 2010 MVP.

Update 3:

At Detroit fan: His first few games doesn't matter and obviously, voters don't care if you miss games, as evident by Mauer's 2009 MVP and Hamilton's 2010 MVP.

It's between him and Hamilton right now. Who, before his recent slump, was putting up huge numbers. And, he's still hitting .312 despite only hitting .190 in the month of June. And it also helps his cause that he's on the best team in the league.

Chaos..you said before there's no first half MVP.

Since Trout came up, Albert Pujols has lifted his average about 100 points currently at .260, 12 HR, 46 RBI's and it could be argued that Pujols will be the Angels MVP above Trout by the end of the year.

But sure, Trout is a candidate.

The other fast emerging candidate would be Robbie Cano.... obviously Cabrera and Hamilton, but there are factors against them. Hamilton's slumping badly, while the Tigers season is still in the balance.

No because he missed 20 games and his first games of the year were awful (i know because he WAS on my fantasy team). Now the past 2 months, yeah MVP. But he has certainly been the most dynamic and best in in the past month and a half. Maybe not MVP status but deserves consideration.

MVP: Hamilton, or heck, Adam Jones has been the big MVP for O's

  • He would definitely have to be in that discussion as he has helped turn things around there. Before Mike Trout came the Angels looked terrible especially Albert Pujols but since he's been there things have turned around and they have a real shot at maybe catching Texas.

Probably so. Josh Hamilton would have been my pick a couple of weeks ago, but he has slumped a bit since then. By the end of the season, though, there are quite a few guys who could be AL MVP.

Yes, Trout has performed good but I see it going to Hamilton or possibly even Melky Cabrera.

Agree. His stats are unbelievable and he turned the Angels season around.

  • it was Hamilton's award to lose and as of today it looks like he is going to lose it. Trout is as much of a favorite as anyone at this point in time.

Yea agree he is a good baseball player

....and it doesn't appear he will slow down as more "tape" can be studied by opposing pitchers. His bat turned what was going to be a lost season around.
