Does the Obamacare ruling compare to what brought us to a revolution?

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

The Republicans characterize ANYTHING Obama does as tyranny. 8^P

Read the Declaration of Independence for yourself. The part we always quote and hear about is 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness', but that's just the 'preamble'. The last 2/3 of the document is a list of abuses, real or perceived, the colonists suffered at the hands of the king.

The colonists were fighting for the rights of other Britishers. Partly the rights of those accused of a crime--habeas corpus, fair, open trials, no excessive fines or cruel and unusual punishment, etc. They wanted representation in parliament. They wanted the right of petition. Freedom of speech. See anything in there about health care? 8^)

You guys have to get over the idea that just because you didn't vote for a guy, therefore EVERYTHING he does is The Crime of the Century.

The only people who will pay the penalty are people who refuse to get health insurance even though they can afford it. Where is your criticism for their lack of personal responsibility? The right is so hung up on semantics that they are refusing to discuss the reality of the situation.

Hey Joe Friday, you are the stupidest person on Yahoo Answers. Obulunder care was shoved down our throats by the most anti American congress in the history of the United States. The reason democrats didn't read the bill is because most of them probably can't read. The democratic party is bankrupt of any and all morality and common sense.

I didn't know that the colonists were opposed to providing health care to citizens. The ACA was enacted by our representatives in Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court. How is that taxation without representation?

No way is it similar. The revolution was about fighting to give Americans the right to independence and self-governance, and the freedom to own slaves, slaughter the indigenous population and keep women as disenfranchised non-citizens.

Whatever gets it done, I'm all for it.

The only reason I'm not over the edge of the proverbial bunker now is that one man is not a revolution but a spree shooter.
