If you add a second GPU but disable SLI when not gaming, will power draw still be much higher than a single card ?
I know the second card will still be drawing some power. Alternatively, could I disable the card some other way on non-gaming days to save power ?
1 AnswerOther - Hardware4 years agoWith a case with front intake, 1 upper rear exhaust fan, and top used by a cpu. what direction should fans blow for best airflow ?
I'm getting a new case with 2 front intake fans, 1 upper rear exhaust fan, and top fan slots used by an aio cpu cooler (extraction, will not stretch to front of case). There are also 2 fan slots on the bottom and a lower rear fan slot - what direction should I have the fans blowing for the most efficient airflow (am considering a 2nd GPU lower in the case) ?

When I try to change the graphics options, specifically the resolution, I get a message saying restart required for changes to take effect. But when I restart the game all options have reverted to their default settings.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games5 years agoCourt of Protection - advice for new deputy please?
I have just been appointed as a deputy for my mother's financial affairs by the Court of Protection, but have no idea how to convince her various bank account providers to release her funds to me, so that I can continue to pay her care home bills. My solicitor told me it might be a pain, but didn't go into details, and I don't want to have to pay for another consultation.

If I place a lay bet at odds of 1.55, selecting a stake of £200 gives me a liability of £110. Does that means that - if I put £110 in the account to cover the liability - If I win my balance will go to £310, or will it be £200 ?
2 AnswersGambling5 years agouk passport renewal question?
I want to renew my passport, that expired 3 years ago, but would have difficulty finding someone from the list of acceptable professions to sign my application/photos. If I am still recognisable from my old passport's phot, can I avoid having to do this.
4 AnswersImmigration5 years agocourt of protection security bond cost ?
I have just started the process of applying to the Court of Protection so that I can access my mother's assets so I can pay her care home fees, etc., but nowhere can I find any indication of how much the security bond will cost me. I won't be asking for control of her house, so excluding that, her assets are around £120K.
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance5 years agoProblem fitting pc liquid cooling?
I want to buy a 240mm dual fan closed loop cpu cooler to my case, but it won't fit inside. My idea is, as I keep the side panel off anyway, to loop some string or wire through the radiator fixing holes and tie the radiator/fan assembly to the lid of my case, so that it hangs down. Other than the assembly swinging around when I move the pc, is this arrangement viable ?
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)5 years agoPC memory modules running at different speeds?
I have 3 4gb sticks of triple channel dr3- 1600mhz memory in a p6t se motherboard, but cpu-z is telling me that one stick is running at the lower speed of 1333mhz. I have moved the module in question to another slot to make sure the socket isn't at fault, and it isn't. The question I'm asking is whether having one module running at a lower speed will have a significant effect on the overall speed/efficiency of my memory and should therefore be replaced ?
3 AnswersOther - Hardware5 years agoEmployer wants to change redundancy terms at the last minute !?
Following a merger with a sister company, my company is moving from London to the Midlands, so I will be opting for redundancy (between 2-9 months from now), as it's too far to commute.
My issue is that I've heard that the company we're merging with is drawing up new contracts for all employees reducing redundancy provision from the generous terms of our current contracts to the legal minimum. Can they legally impose this new contract on those of us that they know are opting for redundancy ?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoLaying a house up for winter - water draining question?
My mother's house is going to be unoccupied over the winter and the electricity has been disconnected, so I can't leave the heating on to prevent the pipes freezing, as I did last year, so I need to drain the water supply.
I know I need to find the stopcock and run the taps, flush etc. to drain the water tank, but do I also need to drain all the radiators individually, too, to drain the central heating system ? And do I need to start at the top of the house and work down, as I apparently have to do with the taps, or doesn't it matter ? Also, is there anything else I need to drain, in order to clear all the pipes of water ?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoPc Memory upgrade question?
I have an aging Core i7 pc, with an overclocked core i7 930 cpu running at 3.1ghz and a 3gb factory overclocked 7970 graphics card.
I am looking for a reasonably cheap way of increasing performance and wondering whether increasing my memory from the current 6gb to 12gb would be worthwhile.

1 AnswerPC6 years agoRemoving old iphone from icloud?
I have just upgraded my iphone 4s to an iphone 6, but I can't remove the old phone from icloud, ie it appears in my device list alongside my new phone, with no erase or delete option appearing.
Additional info: I have erased all content from my old phone and removed the sim card and it no longer appears in 'find my iphone'. The phone is locked (T-Mobile).
I want to sell my old phone now, but will there be a problem with it still appearing on the device list ?
