Sound Isnt working on my computer?

My computer **** the bed a couple years ago and recently i installed a windows CD i had and everything works fine except the sound doesnt work. When sounds would play i get a little system 'beep' that i can hear, when i open itunes it says 'itunes has detected a problem with your sound configuration. audio may not work properly.' I have a feeling that it has something to do with my soundcard not being updated or something like that but i dont know that much about the insides of a computer to know what im doing, please help, i need my music!

Install the latest driver for the sound card or for the motherboard's onboard sound.

Also make sure the speakers are plugged into the correct port on the back of the computer. Usually the green one.

Or check to make sure the speakers has power to them.

ALso this may sound dumb, but make sure the Windows hasn't muted the sound.

You need to install the drivers for your sound card. Check the computer manufacturer's website for driver downloads.

I d't really know how to fix it but you could tinker around with Realtek Audio Manger (which is probably on your taskbar) or any other audio manager you have. Good luck, brah

Simplest way to fix this is to just go to ebay and buy a $5 usb sound stick...

Its basically a sound card that looks like a usb stick with your headphone and microphone jack on it.

Source(s): Go to ebay search "usb sound" its actually $3.70 free shipping
