Why so blind to what causes the backlash against christianity?

ALL the other religions and atheists live in peace and are ONLY attacked by BAD christians which causes all GOOD christians to despair at the damage they do!

Up until about 40 years back Christianity was thriving and there was no conflict with others but in just those few short years the modern christians have become intolerant, hate filled, bigoted and persecuting resulting in a growing backlash against christianity and causing christianity to loose over ten percent in less than a decade with the loss accelerating!

The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only thing that can stop it is to abandon the terrible human emotions, seek to rediscover the idea of a loving god and act like it!

The atheists I've met have searched harder for a religion then any Christian I've ever encountered. The problem is that the search is fruitless, the laws of the physical universe cannot be violated and they preclude the existence of a god or gods.

Seeing as how this was wasted on a Hindu spiritualist, I will put it here...I HAVE searched for God and came up empty handed--God doesn't exist, deal with it:

I have been Christian for more of my life than I have been atheist, so yes, I think I tried to find proof. It was the overwhelming lack there of in my search that led me to atheism.

I will tell you one thing that ALWAYS frustrated me about testimonials (and I confirmed with a previously DEEPLY religious friend of mine who recently became atheist that he TOO was disturbed by this):

Almost invariably, I would hear testimonials about how some person was terrible--was into drugs, sex, alcohol, fought all the time, stole from people, etc. Then one day, they found God and were healed. Their testimony was "proof" of this all loving God which accepted them no matter how bad they had been. These people were CERTAIN that God was real because they believed that he directly showed himself to them.

Well, I was never a bad person. I never drank (well not back then), didn't have sex until my senior year of high school (with my now wife), I didn't steal from people--in general I was a "good" person. Yet "God" never felt it necessary to incontrovertibly show himself to me. So why is it that someone who follows the tenants of Christianity is not worthy to have God revealed to them, while he seems to show himself so wilfully towards terrible people?

It seems to me, that if you want to see God that you have to do horrible things. I would argue (now) that this false interpretation that God healed them is actually their overwhelming sense of remorse which they had all along finally making them give in and break down and admit that they have done terrible things--I would argue that the belief in God is a way out for them. Christians tell these people to believe in Jesus and all of the horrible things they have done will be washed away. Since I never did those horrible things, I guess I never needed to be told that I was forgiven by a bunch of Christians and thus I never saw any benefit to believing in God.

One more thing:

Like I said, I have a friend who used to be DEEPY religious (I mean he had the courage to convert from Catholicism to protestantism because he believed in the word of God so strongly, i.e. the Bible).

Upon finding out that he had lost his faith, I asked him this question: "So, you finally got tired of talking to yourself?"

To which he replied, yep, that's pretty much it.

btw, you don't EVER want to meet up with this guy, because he can answer any scripture you give him with a contradictory passage (off the top of his head--this is how much knowledge he has about scripture). As opposed to me who has to rethink about what I learned in Sunday School and then hope that I can find the passage through a google search.

Truth is self evident to your own self be true.. IF Truth is lost and christians are the only ones who have it. Then no one else can find it. You hog it all.. Be happy in heaven. Im taking beer and weiners and buns to hell for the roast..

I'm trying to take this seriously, but there's nothing to take seriously.

If there was a reason to love God, I wouldn't have become an atheist.

If we were stupid enough to accept your argument and believe, we would have done it long ago.

First, give me evidence for your belief, the existence of God, and that YOUR God is the correct one.

Then we'll talk.

Until then, stop wasting your time. You're not convincing ANYONE.
