Need help with a Raw Vegan Diet?

Hello Everyone I am going to be trying out a Raw Vegan diet, It is something I wanted to do after watching Life Regenerator on you-tube for those who know who that is. I have been a vegan for almost four years, and a vegetarian for fifteen years and I always struggled with weight, I like my carbs a lot since it makes packing lunch a lot easier. Any ideas would be great, AND a bonus if you can find things that a meat eater like my Fe' would eat, I also do not like olives or mushrooms. Thank you for the help -

I got some great recipes from "Kath eats real food". She's an RD, which helps me. I can look at recipes and change them up.

Also, recipes from Mollie Katzen, "the enchanted broccoli forest" and "Laurel's kitchen". My meat eaters like the black bean patties. Also, lately Rappini has been coming up in the garden and is great with lemon juice and sea salt.

Homemade hummus with fresh garlic, red bell pepper and lime juice, organic tahini. Other salsa made from fresh fruits, bean varieties. Fresh snap pea salad, pea salad.

The best books to start with are "Raw Food Made Easy" by Jennifer Cornbleet, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" by Lori Baird and Julie Rodwell. Both have good recipes that don't require specialty equipment, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" is packed with information and resources.

I usually start the day with a smoothie. (Frozen bananas, fresh OJ, agave nectar) Frozen bananas are great to have on hand, because when you put them through a juicer or a grinder, it's just like soft serve ice cream.

Other staples of mine include cashew ranch dip, flax seed tostadas, guacamole, nut burgers, onion bread...

For a quick snack I usually grab a LaraBar and a coconut water.

If you decide that raw food is for you, and you want to try more adventurous recipes, you will probably want a dehydrator, a juicer, and a spiral slicer.

    Some good websites:

    http://www.rawfoodinfo.com/

    http://goneraw.com/

It is also helpful to keep in mind that one is considered a raw foodist if they consume 75% or more of their food raw. This leaves plenty of wiggle room for the occasional cup of herb tea, or a veggie burger.
