Standardized testing question, TOEFL?

So I moved to the NJ in the U.S. when I was in 5th grade, but my school had a bilingual program in which i was involved until 7th grade. Then i moved to Connecticut and all my classes were all english from 8th grade and on. I am about to become a senior and i have taken both the SAT and ACT but my scores are not as high as i expected because the English, writing, reading, and the essays. In the math section i get good scores but not the rest. Am i supposed to take the TOEFL? My guidance has no idea because i'm like her first Hispanic student, and i'm also one of the few Hispanic student from my school there is very little diversity. Please i need an answer because i know that to get into a good college and receive scholarships i need better scores on these kind of tests.

You should take the toefl because in this case you need the extra help to make your college applications more impressive. But most importantly don't forget to take the SAT 2, if you get good grades in math it should be very good for you if you take Math level 2 (but if you want to take level 1 -easier- then go for it) you can also take other subjects like:

    Literature

    US History

    World History

    Mathematics Level 1

    Mathematics Level 2

    Biology

    Chemistry

    Physics

    French

    French with Listening

    Chinese with Listening

    German

    German with Listening

    Modern Hebrew

    Italian

    Japanese with Listening

    Korean with Listening

    Latin

    Spanish

    Spanish with Listening

and since you're hispanic you could maybe take spanish as well?

    Good luck :)

I think it's safer for you to take the TOEFL. Although you're receiving an English education, if your scores for the SAT/ACT English sections weren't so high, the TOEFL might help you. The TOEFL is a lot easier than the English sections for the SAT/ACT (I took it last year) and I think it would boost your application, especially for scholarships.
