What's the difference between toothpaste made for children and toothpaste made for adults?

Other than the flavors(I see nothing but mint, wintergreen, and cinnamon in the adults section...),is there any difference?

The absolute difference is fluoride levels. Look at he ingredients and it will indicate the level of fluoride in 'ppm' - this means parts per million. Fluoride is toxic and as children will swallow rather than spit out toothpaste it is reduced for safety reasons. Adult pastes are usually around the 1300 to 1500 ppm level whereas children's are more in the 300-500ppm.

There will be some flavor differences as well as the strong minty pastes would be rejected by children.

The only real difference is the packaging and pricing. Chemically, they are just about identical with the exception, as you say, of the "flavours" and the amount of sugar. Yes, there is sugar in toothpastes, both for kids and adults.

The fluoride is mostly the difference. They make children's paste so it can be swallowed with no harmful effect.

I don't like the flavor either, but the problem is if you want to combat tooth decay you need the fluoride. You can try brushing with their paste, then rinsing with a fluoride rinse.

Fluoride is toxic to children. Children's tooth paste is more natural due to the fact a lot of kiddy's don't tend to spit it out.

I think they make it with less harmful chemicals so it is safe for the kids to swallow it.
