No need to list sources, the technology that improves politics is all in communications: internet, cell phones, etc.

It has wrecked politics in America.
1. The right hates anything that science tells us that they find inconvenient or costly - so they use the science and technology of communication to get the ignorant to distrust science and destroy it through the political process.
2. The left counters this journey down the rabbit hole of absurdity with the same tactics of sound-bite rhetoric that is equally fraught with meaningless and distorted truths, half truths and lies. But at least it is on the side of science.
It is of course wrong to blame science and technology for this - they are nothing more than knowledge and tools. It is the Politicians egregious mis use of them for manipulation of the public that is to blame. But it can be said that American Politics would be vastly more effective if the only way for politicians to communicate was in person and in print.
