Do the cameras in police cars record 24/7? Even when the car is off?
Hello, I just recently had my vehicle vandalized, and I noticed that there is a police car with the rear window directly facing my car. I was wondering if these cars had rear facing cameras, and if they were on 24/7?

It depends entirely on the police department's policy. The department I work for has them off most of the time, and we only turn them on to record an event such as an arrest. My state's highway patrol, on the other hand, does leave them on 24/7.

Sorry about your car! I've heard different stories on that. Sometimes if the car is on then yes it could be recording. I've also heard no. Call the pd and ask.

I'm not sure, but I would assume yes because just because the engine isn't running doesn't mean the camera would stop working.
