What does the Black People think about Abraham Lincoln ?

Do you feel he helped the Blacks and tried to let them know many White People were against Slavery ?

He set the Slaves and Blacks free, so why do you continue to hold a grudge against White People ?

The ignorance in this question pains me. Also congratulations for generalizing an entire race of people.

Abraham Lincoln admitted he was not fully against slavery, an important reason for him to free slaves was because it was the only way of preventing strong divisions between the north and south. Also many black people don't take a grudge against white people and appreciate white liberals who supported the civil rights movement.

First the vast majority of black people don't think Abraham Lincoln was black. Second Abraham Lincoln ended slavery in America not as some sort of moral righteous act but as a means of taking the economic advantage of free labor away from southern white slave owners. Lincoln also signed the Compensated Emancipation Act of District of Columbia in 1862 where slaver owners were compensated for their monetary losses for having their slaves set free. So let's understand what I just said. African Americans whose ancestors could not build a legacy of prosperity because of being subjugated and disenfranchised for over 250 years in America are vilified as ingrates and moochers for demanding reparations but slave owners not only were seen as justified but were BACKED by the president that emancipated the slaves in receiving monetary compensation (reparations) for money lost in purchases and profits from crop harvests by slave labor.

And finally though it is true that we were freed from subjugation, what we lost is immeasurable. We lost our ancestral identity. Fact is we know little to nothing about our ancestry and worse is many of us not only don't value it many of us despise it. We don't see a connection with the people and cultures of those closest to us beyond the high levels of melanin in our skin. This is the legacy of chattel slavery. Most white people can't understand the value of black people knowing their African ancestry because most white people see Africans as a savage people and through slavery African Americans are much better off. In fact many white people see the slave masters as doing us a favor. To that sentiment my question is who died and made you God? This is how many blacks feel when broached by the crass, insensitivity of whites.

You want us to judge a whole people based off the actions of a few ? you know that can go either way.
