Would you date someone you met online?

I think i would date someone I met through friends on fb. Its not like i will go on extra sleazy sites like speeddate or flirt.com. I feel slimy even getting spam from there. What about you? would you date someone you met online? to what exent?

My boyfriend and I met online and it has worked about wonderfully. We have been together two years and are very much in love.

Yes, as long as they live within 40 minutes of driving. After 2-3 emails, you should meet for a coffee date or lunch date at a halfway point. 45 minutes of light & fun conversation and you're done.

Anything after that is no different than if you met them in the checkout line at the grocery store. Just don't talk about exes or marriage. No heavy topics.

There are 4-5 reputable sites for dating. Remember: If the dating site is free, you are not likely to get your money's worth.

I met my girlfriend online. She put out a Craigslist ad looking for a guitarist; I answered it. We started a band and then started dating like nine months later.

Previously, I've dated maybe half a dozen girls I met through dating sites like OKCupid... those dates didn't go all that well. Partly because the girls were so suspicious of me - just assuming I was some kind of serial killer rapist, or, best-case scenario, someone looking for a one-night stand. I really felt like those dates got seriously sabotaged.

Dated a friend's cousin's friend once. Met him online. Chatted for weeks. Talked on the phone for weeks. Met up in person and dated long-distance for two years, seeing each other only about 4 days a month.

He cheated on me two weeks after our second anniversary.

I met my husband through Plenty of Fish, so it does work sometimes. You just gotta be careful. Only meet in public the first few times, and talk to them A LOT before meeting up with anyone.

I believe the situation depends, I have met a few people from online games, and alot of them are very good friends. Also a good friend of mine met his wife online playing World of Warcraft.

Even my mom has met guys online, playing Call of duty.

So yes I would say it is perfectly acceptable to date someone you meet online.

Yes, if I carefully vetted him first. I wouldn't date just anyone I met online, nor would I date just anyone I found in person - do your investigative work first no matter whom you date.

Our oldest daughter is currently dating a really great guy she met through christianmingle.com.

    Wishing you well.

If it was someone I met on facebook with mutual friends, then maybe. I wouldn't actually start dating until I met her in person though.

  • No, not unless we very soon after meeting online, meet in real life and we have a strong connection.

Sure - I don't think it matters how I meet someone, though I don't think I'd use sleazy sites
