How strict are University grade requirements?

I'm looking at different universities to apply to. My first choice would be Warwick, which asks for AAA. It's not an unreasonable target, however I think I'd more likely get A*AB. Would this generally be ok?

If you don't believe you are going to meet the entry requirements then you really shouldn't apply as the most common answer will be no. If AAA is the minimum entry requirement, then the university will not budge as they believe it is the minimum entry requirement and you should be able to meet it - if they start bending the rules for one person and accepting someone else with lower grades then it would be fair on the others and they would have to do the same for everyone else. If they specify 'AAA' then they will most likely only offer a place to the people they believe will achieve these grades, however if they ask for the UCAS points and do not the grades then it would be possible. Warwick is an elite university and in the top #10 in the UK they have many applicants who get even above the grades they list, so they wouldn't accept someone with lower marks. For instance my university requires A*AAAB (B at AS Level) and I never known them to accept someone who gets lower than this. Good luck

It depends on a few things, like what the B is in.

If you're applying for English Literature, and the offer is AAA. If you get A*AB, with the B in literature, you'll have a hard time getting an unconditional. Otherwise you'd have a much better chance, especially if the A* is in English literature.

But you never know. I know a Physics student at a top end Russell Group who has a B in Physics when having been given an offer for triple A.

I hope this helps and good luck for August!

When they ask for AAA, that is the minimum requirements,so is non-negotiable

Obviously someone with more than AAA would stand a better chance of getting a place on the course

those are 3 of Scotland's oldest universities (the fourth is Aberdeen). St Andrews is the subsequent oldest in the full uk after Oxford and Cambridge. this is not stunning in the event that they have very extreme front skills. on your case, i'd ask in spite of if i truly needed or necessary to pass to college, or in spite of if i necessary to pass to between the main demanding ones. Why no longer visit a college with particularly greater easy standards - or purely forget approximately approximately college altogether (this is not perfect for each individual) and come across a job the place you may commence making funds perfect away?

In recent years it is clear that grade requirements have risen. As and Bs are preferable buti know birmingham is asiking for 8 A*s. If you get high grades in english lit, history, maths and science, this should really make the uni consider you. Good luck x

Depends on the course and the university! I strongly suggest for you to call the universities and ask them!

Don't wast your time if you don't have the grades, they make it clear what you need and if you don't have them you wont be accepted, Good Luck
