I plan on teaching my kids where the concept of Santa Claus came from. I want them to understand that there is FAR more to the legend of Santa than some fat guy in a red suit who gives you presents for being good the entire month of December.

Your "question" makes two mistakes. First, it assumes Santa and God are equivocal. That's like saying a private is equal in uniform, authority and duty to a four-star general. Second, it assumes Santa is a purely fabricated story, made up entirely by the guy who wrote "Night Before Christmas." You are totally wrong on both counts.

The legend of Santa Claus is actually older than feudalism. It starts in 3rd century Turkey. Look up St. Nicholas and find out exactly who the man who "became" Santa Claus really was.

Why would oyou tell a kid that in the first place. It's stupid. I never believed in Santa Claus, and I've always enjoyed christmas.
