Keeping a supply of Febreze on hand to refresh all those stinky fabrics can get expensive...so what do you do?

Odor control in hot weather...what to do when you run out of Febreze? Make your own>>>

1/8 cup of fabric softener (Downy April Fresh is good, but you could use your favorite)

2 Tablespoons of baking soda

Hot tap water

Spray bottle (use an empty 27 oz Febreze bottle or one similar)

Then....using a funnel, pour the fabric softener & baking soda into the bottle. Fill with hot tap water...shake up well. (Don't forget to twist the nozzle over to LOCK position if using the Febreze bottle!)>>>>>>now spray away anything that needs de-odorizing!

Cost: buying Febreze @a store - $5.59

Making your own - $ .15

Total savings>>>>>>>>>>>>>. $5.44 or 97.3%

Is this something worth trying?? :D

Update:

The whole purpose of using a fabric softener -{and yes, cost is factored in there...it's only 1/8 cup per bottle!!! baking soda is cheap and only requires 2 Tab, too.) is to AVOID the smell of vinegar and spray on something with a more pleasing "fragrance". There are some of us who detest the smell of vinegar....even in salads...and I would never consider permeating the entire house/air with it...ugh. Febreze type spray is great on: comforters, curtains, chairs, sofas, carpets, chair seats, car upholstery, closets holding coats, etc....stinky shoes and more. No thanks---no vinegar for me.

You did not factor in the cost of the fabric conditioner

Much easier, cheaper way of achieving the same result....... half water half white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray whatever you want, no harm and no odour when dry. Can be used as a room deoderiser too.

    White vinegar... about $1.50/2 litres

    Spray bottle $1.50/500ml

    Water....from the tap.

This amount of white vinegar will make up 4 litres of solution which will last about 4 lifetimes.

Yes it's worth trying to save money. My concern is when you spray it on an item if will it create spots. My suggestion is to spray it on one item and wait until it is fully dried before you spray it on everything in the house.

Actually it occurred in these days. In the core of the Night I aroused from sleep from a horrible dream, I dreamed that I was once at the swings while I observe a spider made her internet on quit of the swings. The spider was once gigantic and I knew it was once very hazardous. I received a rock and destroyed the internet however the spider leap and received me. The trouble is that I have arachnophobia. :( very horrifying
