You seem to be asking a lot of questions today.
Ultimately it will depend on where you are stationed. Some locations are more accessible than others to those without cars.
Focus on being good at your job and you'll be fine. Keep your uniform neat and don't be a ****bag. Most importantly: choose your new friends wisely. When you first get to the barracks there will probably be some other private sitting in front of the barracks smoking. He'll be all jaded and cool and will offer to hang out with you. Ask yourself: "Why is no one else friends with this guy?" Stay away from 'That guy' (there's one at every command).
Whether you're in a squad, platoon, shop, squadron, or motor pool, just focus on learning your job. Everything else will fall into place. I hope you get good NCOs, they're there to help you.
Do not buy a car as soon as you get there!!! I don't care what the car dealer says or whether or not he was in the Army or where he says he was stationed. Be careful when you go off base. Most businesses are legit, but several aren't. Don't sign any contracts with a car dealer or jewelry store or camera shop.
Good luck to you.
