Would it be alright to dye a dark blue over red-tinted hair or should I use a color strip first?
My current hair color is somewhere near a medium reddish brown (dyed), and I'm wondering whether I should remove this color before attempting to dye my hair midnight blue. I don't want it to turn out a gross color, so would it be worth the trouble to strip the hair dye out before dyeing it again? The current color was dyed over a bleach blonde, and my natural hair color is brown-black, if that helps.
Thanks so much :)

It might turn out darker than you want. Like purple or black instead of blue. The real problem is fading. As it fades, it will probably be really weird looking. If you dyed it over blonde hair though, it would fade to a lighter blue.
If you use a color stripper first, it will just turn your hair orange-red usually. But the dark blue should *probably* go over that fine.

Going from a lighter to darker color typically doesn't cause any issues. If you want it to show the blue color more brilliant then I would strip it out. Good luck.

Always test a bit with permanent just to be safe. Better safe than sorry :)
