Did Jesus intend to abolish the People of God or renew it?
Many in the modern world lament that Jesus promised us a Kingdom, but all He left us was the Church. Is this a false opposition or truth?

Hi Lives7
I do not have the same understanding of the person of Jesus or the Kingdom or this word 'church' that has been passed down the generations through the organised doctrines. My understanding is that scripture is a spiritual document directed to the soul of man, speaking of that which occurs in sirit, not on earth, for flesh and blood can nt inherit the Kingdom. It is not an historical record, but a psychological drama, written in symbolic language. It is told in the form of a story so that the child mind of man might take to it, for if it was told as it is, he wouldn't be able to grasp it all and would simply dismiss it. At the appropriate time, then more can be revealed - perhaps your ceaseless questions show that you are there - that time, mood, attitude for more - a thirst as spoken of in Amos.
I see that we are all like Job who believed in the traditions of men until having to deal with the afflictions given to him, and by which he would be delivered, and who came to the conclusion that God ( the power of creative imagining) was able to do all things. After this understanding, of seeing rather than hearing, through experience rather than hearsay, of course all things were restored to him. Job's story is every man's story and an adumnbration to the greater story that must unfold in each individual - that of Jesus (the awakened and loving imagination), whose experiences over 1260 days showed him to be the Father. He never set up a church, for when he said of Peter 'Upon this rock I will build my church' he was talking about a fact; it was upon a newly revealed and fulfilling fact of confession that he was able to confirm his identity.
Here is an extract from Charles Fillimore's Revealing Word, a kind of dictionary for the Bible:
church--The word church is derived from a Greek word meaning "the Lord's house." The individual's consciousness is his "Lord's house," and assembled within it are groups or aggregations of ideas (thought centers). The spiritualized will carries to the different "churches" (thought centers) the word of Truth and builds them up into a knowledge of their perfection and divinity by training them in spiritual thinking.
church of Christ--Spiritual consciousness, first individual, then collective. In the general usage the word church applies to persons who have been "born anew" (John 3:3) through the quickening power of the word, gathered together in one body, their union being typified by the human body.
Jesus never organized a church on earth; neither did He authorize anyone else to do so. He said to Peter, "Upon this rock I will build my church" (Matt. 16:18). He did not tell Peter that he was to be the head of the church, with a line of popes to follow. He said, "I will build my church" (ecclesia, assembly, or called-out ones). Jesus is still the head of His "assembly," and its only organization is in Spirit. He gave but one guide, one source from which His followers should receive their inspiration: "The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you" (John 14:26).
I hope this sparks your interest to investigate further into what such a new understanding can reveal to assist your understanding of scripture and therefore yourself - with guaranteed, though difficult, results.
After all, even the disciples couldn't handle what was being revealed to them. But they eventually got it.
all the best

You treat the Christian church spiritual kingdom of God as if it were nothing special. But history proves that it has survived all the nations, empires and kingdoms of men. And it will continue to do so.
See:
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee that l will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Jesus never "abolishes" his kingdom or people. She is his very own bride and he loves and protects her.

The kingdom of God is the Church. It is the body of believers who follow God and obey his commandments, as clarified by his Son, Jesus Christ.
In the eyes of the world, the kingdom is a coercive organization with a hereditary monarch. Which makes no sense for a God whose hallmark is freedom and individual responsibility.
Cheers,
