I need help with purchasing a laptop. Need help comparing different programs, etc.?

Right now I currently have a Gateway M-1625 laptop with Windows Vista on it. From what I can find by going to Start-Computer-right click-Properties, I have 2.00 GB memory, 221 GB hard drive, 32 bit operating system and the processor is AMD Turion (tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00GHz.

I am not good with computers so I have 2 that I am looking at and I want to get something equivilant to what I have or better and I need help with which one is better, especially with the processor, I know absolutely nothing about that. Here are the specs of the 2 I am looking at...

1. Gateway with 3 GB memory, 320 GB hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium and the processor is Intel Celeron B-820 processor.

2. HP with 4 GB memory, 500 GB hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium and the processor is AMD Dual Core E450 Accelerated Processor.

Both can be bought with the option of getting the Windows 8 in a few months when it comes out for $14.99, so I am not too concerned about that, just not sure about all the specs and which one is better than what I already have and is the best of these 2.

Thank you soooo much for your help!!! :)

Update:

Forgot to add that these are all from Walmart, does that make a difference?

And I found a 3rd that sounds ok for about the same price. Its a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5518 ith 3 GB Memory, 320 GB hard drive and AMD E-Series E-300 Processor, again with Windows 7 Home Premium

im going to be honest, both of the computers your looking at are slower than your old one , a celeron proccessor is intels very bottom end , and usually cannot handle any task above youtube watching. and a e450 is basically your proccessor with a better integrated graphics. your going to want to look for something a little more powerful for it to be an upgrade. tell you what , shoot me an email at poplepo3@gmail.com with a budget and ill help you pick out a better machine for you .
