If light did not have a wave nature, would mankind exist?

I don't see how the wave nature of light is essential to life. As a particle, it could still give energy to plants. However, it would be rather difficult to see without the wave nature of light. The lenses in our eyes couldn't focus it. You couldn't form an image. You might have eyes that could tell if it was light or dark out, but not recognize objects. Or it could be possible to have "pinhole camera" style eyes, which can form an image without a lens, but because of the smaller aperture they'd only work well in bright light conditions.
