depends what your after. both are decent.
but if your just into mainstream music and love the bass and the beats. then i would go with the AKG's.
sony hasn't made decent headphones that last in a while.
however if you wanna spend a bit of cash on them check out sennheiser or monster headphones. they are the best out there for sound quality and reliability

the sony xb500 are absolute crap, i dont know about the akgs but stay away from the sonys
