An electric weed eater would be your best bet. Gas powered machines are considerably heavier. Unfortunately an electric weed eater is not a solution for a large property or one that requires lots of weed eating.
My problem was both the weight and the inability to start a gas machine. My right arm does not function properly because of injuries from an accident. I do have a lot of weed eating to do in my yard so an electric machine was not the answer for me. I purchased a spring assist straight shaft machine. I am able to start it. The weight is still an issue so I only work with it for short periods of time.

Any small one is quite lightweight. But I found the really small ones to be harder to use than the larger one I have now because of the way you have to bend to use them. I currently have a battery powered one which looks big but is actually very easy to use because of the way the head is angled and because there is a handle in the middle so I can hang onto it with both hands. The battery lasts for around 40 minutes, which is about all the weedeating I care to do at one time anyway.

when you said about lightweight weed eater, it's about electric weed eater. (Corded or cordless weed eater)
It's really heavy with gas with eater. You only consider to buy gas weed eater when you have a large yard and tough grass.
