Enlarged tonsils - please help!?

A month ago, I had a big, swollen lymph node in the side of my neck. My throat was sore and I couldn't move my neck. I started taking antibiotics and after 5 days, my sore throat became better and the lymph node shrank and stopped hurting, but I could still feel it.

3 weeks after this, I discovered 4 more swollen lymph nodes and my throat was sore. The lymph nodes were painful.

So I went to the doctor. He said my tonsils were enlarged and put me on new antibiotics. He asked me to take a blood test as well, which came clear.

The new antibiotics worked for some time as I finished the course.

But my throat is sore again and I feel my tonsils enlarged inside.

I often have a sore throat and talk in a voice like a creaking door. I often sleep with my mouth open. Whenever I sing in the kitchen sometimes, my throat gets sore again. I run out of energy quickly and it's not because I'm anaemic, as the blood test revealed.

I'm an adult, who often has tonsillar enlargement, can't talk in a normal voice ( my friends often tell me I sound like I'm in pain) and who has a sore throat often.

Should I learn to just live with it?

"He asked me to take a blood test as well, which came clear." -- We say "normal".

"I run out of energy quickly and it's not because I'm anaemic, as the blood test revealed." -- Probably because the tonsillar hypertrophy impinges on your breathing.

"I often have a sore throat and talk in a voice like a creaking door" -- Pharyngitis and laryngitis.

"I often sleep with my mouth open." -- Not a good thing to do.

"Should I learn to just live with it?" -- Why would you do that if you don't need to? Tonsillitis is usually viral. Either yours is viral or you may have been prescribed the wrong antibiotic each time. If you're having symptoms now, go back to your doctor, better yet see an ENT, and get a throat culture to find out exactly what you're dealing with. It may be that it's time for a tonsillectomy. What do your adenoid tonsils look like?
