He forsook his heavenly position as God's son and became a man. He was a perfect man though he went through much suffering for us all. It took a perfect man to die a sacrificial death for us to be reconciled to God. Adam was a perfect man and yet sinned. Jesus Christ was perfect and did not sin.

Yes he certainly was, same functions a imperfect man has..But the difference he was God's son,perfect.He would have had to fight continually the spirit of this world since as we always say he was a person of free Will.He could have succumbed to Satan offers if he wanted to, but no Jehovah's will and purpose for him came first.He could have also denied his life being taken as the grand sacrifice. But his love for his father far exceeded his own wishes.
