How do you personally meditate?
I'm very new to meditation. I've gotten so many books on Buddhism and done so much reading. On Monday I'm going to the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery for instruction in meditation and putting it into practice.
But I just wonder the differences in how everyone meditates. I'm curious as to how it differs from person to person.
Could you tell me how you personally meditate?
I'm not asking how I should learn to meditate. I'm wondering how the process is different for each person. Thus how do you yourself meditate? What do you envision? Listen to? Where do you sit/go? ect ect

I practise "Awareness watching Awareness" and "Abandon release method" meditation as described in the book "The most direct means to eternal bliss". Also I highly recommend reading the book "Nirvana: Absolute freedom."
This video will give you an Idea on how I meditate:

I do about three different kinds of meditation. I do one before bed where I place two folded fingers against my heart chakra, take three cleansing breaths in which I bring my "feelers" in and center myself. Feelers is what I call my senses that have been used and pushed out from me over the course of the day, like little tentacles taking in every little thing around me.
The second and third I do to one specific song I've found on YouTube that I really like because it is so peaceful. I sit crosslegged, place my hands before me my pinky, ring, and middle fingers folded and touching each other and the tips of my thumbs (pointing toward me) and forefingers (pointing away) touchings. One version I do with what I've just said is to just center myself and concentrate on something or just empty my mind. Another I do is to concentrate on each of the five elements (air, fire, water, earth, spirit -- in that order).
This is just how I meditate though I'm open to other versions. I'm not sure how different Buddhist meditation is or even if it is similar. All I know is that I have been more aware of my surroundings and the energies around me as well as being much, much calmer ever since I started meditating back in March of this year. Blessed be )O(

well, what i do is i need a peaceful room, calm energy, etc. needs to be silence. i close my eyes, breathe deeply, and just stop thinking. for many it is difficult to not think, however, i have trained myself to not think. whenever i want, i can just stop thinking. crazy isn't it?
