To all the lawyers out there, help please?
So, I'm only 14, but I know that I want to be a criminal lawyer. I would really like to work for the Special Victim's Unit, but everything that I've looked up tell me that I would have to be a detective for the SVU, which would mean that I have to be a police officer for 5 years. I don't want to be a detective, I want to be a lawyer. I would like to be a prosecutor. Please tell me the whole process of becoming a lawyer for criminal cases, and if it is possible for me to be a prosecutor just for the SVU. Thanks so much! I really want to get a start on figuring out what I need to do. 10 points to the best answer<3

SVU is a division of a police department, and does not have attorneys. As an attorney, you would work in the Prosecutor's office. As such, you would handle a number of criminal cases, not just ones that were investigated by the SVU. In a bigger city, you might be able tapped by the DA as the "go to" person to handle SVU cases, but you would have to work your way up to that.
Path to becoming a criminal prosecutor:
Graduate high school with high grades, number of extracurricular activities.
Earn a 4 year college degree - if Pre-law is available as a major, choose it. Otherwise you may want to major in Political Science, Forensics, or Psychology to help in your career as a prosecutor. Best if you make dean's list, and maintain high GPA. Join college clubs.
Take the LSAT before or early into your senior year of college. Begin prepping in Spring of Junior year and strive for highest score possible.
Apply and gain acceptance into law school. Earn JD degree with 2nd/3rd elective course loads geared towards criminal law and litigation.
Pass the bar exam - apply for jobs at county prosecutor/district attorney offices.
Good luck!

Now i'm in a alluring catch 22 situation, or is that on the horns of a catch 22 situation? I particularly have a chum of fifty years who's the two an lawyer and a toddler-kisser. Are you telling me I would desire to pay extra interest whilst finding out on my pals? he's the on criminal expert I particularly have any touch with if that concerns. the high quality element approximately legal experts is it purely takes a sq. foot of floor to bury one and there is no choose for a backhoe. All you will desire to do is stand him on his head and screw him into the floor. i like the Viagra one. it extremely is the only one I hadn't heard previously. thank you for the chuckles, in spite of in case you have heard them previously they are worth revisiting.
