What do you know about the quality of LCD and Plasma screens.?

Explaining the information that you have heard or read about, express the positive and negative qualities of each one. I am specially interested in knowing the expected life of each one in TV and computers.

Average lifespan of LCD AND plasma is upward (mostly) of 60,000 hours.. LCD TV's have a slow response time, causing a blur on fast action, and poor off to the sides viewing....On the other hand, Plasma TV's have a very fast response time, excellent blacks and colors, and an EXTREME wide viewing angle, just like OLED...(up to 170 degrees.) Most plasma are 40 inches or larger.. The old 'burn-in' issue has been addressed, as has the glass glare or reflection problem in older sets....Many wall mount them with a slight tilt down, also helping any reflections.... Plasma is the way to go..LCD and LED TV's offer refresh rates in many cases, but they are not a cure, and cause weird artifacts, especially if watching a 24 frame movie..!

I know, or highly suspect, that TV panels are made in a few factories.

Individual panels are tested for their initial build and operation quality. The better ones are sold at a premium to top manufacturers such as LG or Samsung, the left overs to lesser brand manufacturers, and the budget ODMs.

I would expect about 3-5 years out of an average panel. Panels with CCFL backlight, and likely LED, have a given lifespan based on the life of the backlight, but those backlights can be replaced, but probably not practically.

Plasma tvs last just as long if not longer than lcds. And rich is exactly right! If you want to see a great plasma at a great price look up the LG 50PA5500 on bestbuy.com! Those reviews are great too!

I heard that Plasma TVs are better in quallity than LCDs. But Plasmas don't last anywhere as long as LCDs. It's probably false, but I remember hearing something like that a long time ago.
