A question for atheists: Do you say "bless you" when someone sneezes?

I know this question is kinda stupid but just wondering.

No, and I may sound like an asshole, but I complain when others do it to me. Superstitious nonsense has no place in modern society.

No, I don't say anything. Unless the person sneezes on *me,* in which case I usually politely ask them to please not do that.

Most of the world says absolutely nothing when somebody sneezes. The superstitions about sneezing stopping your heart or expelling evil demons is a European superstition (long since proven false), and it only persists in some parts of Europe and their former colonies -- along with the superstition that you need to "bless" somebody after they sneeze.

    Peace.

I agree with the people who claim to not doing it. Since we are not religious, it would be paradoxical. And when it comes to politeness, I only care if it affects people, like holding open a door for them. However, they won't die if you don't say bless you.

It's kind of a reflex saying, like "Holy Cow" or other such colloqualisms. Most people say it because it's embedded in culture.

If people grew up in a place where everyone said "boogie fever" after sneezing, they'd say that.

Yes. It's a polite thing to say and I don't connect it with any spiritual meaning.

Yes. Although since they just spewed millions of microbes in our face, you'd think it would be "curse you."

I usually say: "God bless you and keep you."

It confuses the hell out of them.

No, they just say "When you die, nothing happens."
