25hp johnson ignition problem ?

I hooked up a new solinoid and a after market push button ignition switch it fried my battery I checked every thing I just have 4 gauge battery cable no harness when I hook up to the battery with out the ignition switch I can connect completly but with the ignition switch hooked up the battery terminal sparks a lot what could cause this the switch,bad ground or something else I have no idea

    There are a couple possible issues. However, there are 25 HP Johnsons that go back to 60 plus years. So, it might help to know which one. I'm not at all sure you can do what you are trying to do.

    It might be better to have an OMC mechanic check out your wiring. The key switch grounds the ignition to stop the engine on some models. Other models have a relay in the system......
