Are you a totally natural tanner?

I totally love tanning, and consider myself a really serious tanner, but for me it's natural sunshine or nothing. I spend an hour or more every day on my tanning deck. I feel a need to tan totally nude, which for me means not only no clothes at all on my skin, but no oils or lotions either, and definitely no sunscreens. It has to be the sun for me, though, I just haven't any interest at all in ever getting into a tanning bed. In fact the idea totally turns be off. Sometimes they offer me a free tan when I go in for a pedicure, but I don't want to know about it. I really don't mind being white for the winter, either. In fact I sort of like it, 'cause half the high I get from tanning is seeing myself changing color again every year. Is it just me, or are there any other serious tanners out there who feel so strongly that there's just nothing like the Sun?

    Yep:)

I'm totally with you on that, Lil. I love the Sun, and stupid as it sounds, using a tanning bed for me would feel almost like cheating on a lover. I'm with you on needing to be nude too. I have a tanning deck on my roof too where I go just about every day it doesn't rain. My boys and I are also into going nude when we go hiking, and for that you really need two thing: The first is really well toughened bare feet, and the second is a really good tan. I'm really careful never to burn, but I don't use any sunscreen either. I'm just really careful about my time when I start laying out in the early spring. It's surprising how early you can start. In full sun even 60F is bearable if you're on your back and the noonday sun is warming you. I used to use dark coconut oil, but now I use nothing. I just don't like anything on my skin. As you say, it's part of being nude.

While I totally applaud the ladies who like to tan nude, you really should use sunscreen. All humans are susceptible to skin cancer no matter how dark your skin is naturally. Ask any dermatologist.

Since I live in one of the most sunless areas of the world: Seattle, WA, I don't have a choice but to use a tanning salon every now again in the winter. (You try living here for 11 winters and you tell me if you're not driven to use a tanning salon:)

Source(s): Personal experience as a hispanic (i.e. brown-skinned) nudist who loves to work on his all-over tan by going to the clothing-optional beach (public park) in my town.

I have a private pool and back yard and make it a point to get an hour or so outside naked in the sun at least once a week. Not long enough to have to put on sunscreen, but long enough to maintain a nice even tan.

tanning using the sun is great, but you HAVE to use sunscreen, gradually decreasing the factor as you brown. i love watching myself change colour too, but i'm planning to age gracefully and tanning like this will have you looking like a handbag by the time you're 50, not to mention the health risks (umm, cancer anyone?). sorry to be a bummer, but it's true.

i'm currently addicted to buying gradual tanning lotions- i can still watch myself go nice and brown, it gives a much better tan than instant lotions and i can use it any time of the year i want. if you want any advice on how to get the best results with them then ask :)

    just please, pleeeaaase use sunscreen!!!

Omg no, I have light skin, and I don't know why, but it's so hard for me to tan ;( I don't tan easily...I wish I can do because I really want at least my legs tanned because they are just too white D: but I love my face light skinned though, just not my legs, because they are just way whiter than my face ;(

    Bye and take care :):)

I'm a natural blonde & fair-skinned, & I have a lot of freckles on my face. I have to start out gradually, but once I get a tan going I turn a nice dark golden color.

I work at a swimming pool in the summertime, so I'm living in swimsuits.
