What are ways I could fund raise for a wheelchair van?
I am 15 and I have a rare genetic disease called muscular dystrophy. It continually makes the muscles in different areas in my body weaker. I have used a power chair 24/7 since the 3rd grade. The only times I haven't been able to use my power chair is when I am not at home or school, because I don't have a wheelchair van to take me places. (You can't fit a power chair inside of a car/SUV.)
It's continually getting more and more uncomfortable for me to sit in my manual chair, and I'm dreading going places because of it. I also hate sitting in the house all day, but I'd rather be comfortable and bored than mad that I can't push myself where I want to go, and that I'm uncomfortable.
What are ways I could fund raise for a wheelchair accessible vehicle? Stores? Churches? How do I get people to sponsor my cause?
@Michael K - Do you HONESTLY believe that EVERY WHERE I want to go a public bus will take me? They don't have public buses everywhere, anyways.
@The Mad Professor - Yeah I've looked into them but insurance wouldn't do squat if that chair were to fall off of the platform. Not taking the chance. That's like $30,000 wasted.
@Victoria (or w/e your name is) - You're the only scary thing.

Have you looked into having a wheelchair platform attached to the rear of the SUV? I see those on the road here in Florida all the time and it should be vastly cheaper than a whole new van.

Wet t-shirt contest. Just because a girl is in a wheelchair doesn't mean she can't have an awesome rack.
