Difference is Romney created this problem on his own. It's not a fake claim like the Kerry charge.

I think it's more a matter of pointing out hypocrisy.
Libs want Romney's record from a decade or more ago to be significant, when Obama's records have been so closely guarded from the start.
It is a hilarious argument, I will admit that much, for Libs to pretend the past is all important now after they adamantly refused to even allow Obama's records to be somewhat vetted.
