I just had my first experience with Obamacare. Why was I shocked and surprised?
I am a Senior Citizen and have been on Medicare and TriCare for Life for the past 15 years. Each year my physicians sends me for a DEXA BONE DENSITY COMPLETE as she has concerns about me breaking bones. For the past five years Medicare paid for part of this and TriCare picked up the balance.
I was quite surprised when I received a bill for $98.49 from the Radiologists. I could not reach them so proceeded to call Medicare and was informed that Medicare no longer covers Bone Density Tests and they paid nothing for this service. Their charge was $210. and TriCare picked up $111.51 leaving a balance of $98.49 for me to pay.
This is not a hugh amount but it is troubling that Medicare is dropping a lot of routine exams. I wonder if the next step will be Obamacare will interfere and the government will insert themselves into what TriCare can pay.
In any event Obamacare has already impacted me negatively and I wonder what will come next.
If this concerns you always check with Medicare before you have any routine tests. This is a broken promise to 25 year veterans and their spouses.
Where in the 2000 plus pages of the Bill address this?
Jay you obviously have no respect for a marine that served in WWII and the Korean War, obtained purple hearts and suffered with serious injuries. He no I ever leeched off the government. Upon his discharge he worked in the private sector and we made a living an raised our three children. The one thing we used was Tri-Care for life and I can assure you we gave more to the government that we ever received from them and we paid thousands in taxes to support those who will not support themselves and have supported others like wounded warriers, St. Jude's Hospital, our Church. What have you Done?

This isn't because of ObamaCare. ObamaCare does not take full effect until 2014. What happened is that Congress (I believe it was the House that did this) did not extend this coverage in The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act, H.R. 3630 (which again is not part of ObamaCare). See the following link and I suggest you contact your member of Congress as mentioned at the bottom and ask that it be reinstated. z
@Josh H: There are no death panels nor rationing under ObamaCare, never were. That was a scare tactic the republicants tried to pull on seniors to get them to go against their best interests.
If you look at the above, you will see that it was the republicant House members that blocked that part of the bill.
@RJC: It is not about government control, it is about guaranteeing healthcare for all.
@Jay: Tri-care is for uniformed service members and their families. They've earned that care many times over. I suggest you look things you don't know up so you don't make a fool of yourself and insult peoples patriotism. That is if you knuckle dragging right wing fool actually knows how to read.

Medicare is too costly to sustain and all Americans know that, and the tests your doctor orders must be out of necessity not because they pad the bill. For years, Medicare was paying doctors for over-testing. Finally that has changed. You dont need a bone density test every year. You dont need mammogram every year. Every program has to be streamlined. That is the Tea Party position. You have Tricare fortunately for you. Some people have nothing. Medicare is not focused on veterans. You can go to a VA and get free care and you have Tricare, so dont complain.
Dont blame the President for doing what taxpayers wanted. Saving money. You should read the Obamacare website and the Medicare section for information.

Looks like you just got hit by part of the deductions taken from Medicare to pay for Obama care. Remember the USA Government is broke
Remember to vote in November!

You will get a lot of denials as you age, because the rationing board is setting up Quality of Life Years criteria for everything. For example, you will probably not be able to get a hip replacement.

Let's start with a simple fact: you've been in a government health care program for 15 years now. Not a private one. A government paid-for and run program.
Is that OK with you?
Because it seems like you're whining that the government isn't paying for something that, well, you should be paying for on your own. From private insurance.
Is it OK for you to be a leach on the government and taxpayers? Shouldn't you be taking your own responsibility for these things?

Sorry but obamacare is about gov control and not health care.
Shout your experience to the hills so everyone knows

You shouldn't have been shocked and surprised. A lot of people have been doing their best to warn Americans about Obamacare. Remember in November!

You have not explained if this is even related to Obamacare, so it's hard to answer your question. Most of the provisions of the affordable care act have not even been implemented yet so you might be barking up the wrong tree. Of course, if you just dislike Obama, then I imagine the truth doesn't matter one way or the other...

thats bad to hear, but in all honestly if you think ObamaCare google Mitt Romneys "Ryan Budget Plan" and what it says about social services.
Choose the lesser of two evils.
