Poetry - Why stay In Your Battle When You Can Be Free ?

Oh The Battle Rages

By Julie S. Cave

Oh the battle rages

But the victory has already been won.

It started long ago

When God sent his only son.

He came in the flesh, being born of a virgin mother.

His purpose on earth was for another.

He told of the Father and of things to come.

Oh the battle rages but the victory has already been won.

He told of how his time would be up at 33

But that he would be back for his glory, for us to see.

He became the ultimate sacrifice on that old tree.

To take the sins of the world and to set us all free.

Oh the battle rages

But the victory was already won.

The day that God sent his only begotten son.

Dunbar takes place to be my well-liked African American poet...the poem is a sturdy occasion of his means to jot down in any way he wanted, as his versatility to jot down interior the established previous English format replaced into his favorite way of writing so as to allure to the main interest. although, the unhappy difficulty approximately him is that he died at a youthful age...had he lived for yet another 2 a protracted time or so, his call and face may well be synonymous with the Harlem Renaissance. it relatively is a shame that he did not have the possibility to, even though it relatively is in all risk that Dunbar might have made the Rrenaissance all the greater particular.
