Toll Roads in Orlando?
I'm vacationing in Orlando for six days in late July / early August. I'm renting a car, and I'm wondering how much of an inconvenience it would be to NOT have the toll road transponder that the rental company is selling ($9 a day).

First of all, I would say that you should double-check with the car rental company and make sure you have it right; $9.00 a day is insane for toll pass... Make sure it's not $9.00 total, plus the cost of tolls (I always rent from Alamo and in order to pass the tolls it's a one-time charge of $6.00 plus the cost of all the tolls you go through).
Unless you are going to spend all day every day of your vacation driving toll roads then $9.00 per day is extremely expensive; the last time I spent a week in Orlando I spent a grand total of $10.75 on tolls for the week (passing through toll booths on nine different occasions). You would be paying $54.00 for your trip, a total waste of money. You would be much better off just paying the tolls, I've done that before and it wasn't that bad, it added MAYBE an extra 5-10 minutes to our trip.
But like I said, double-check with the rental company and make sure you've got the details right, because if they're seriously charging that much for the option to bypass tolls then they are crooks and I'm surprised they're still in business.

I honestly can't imagine you spending $9 in tolls per day, unless you were planning to drive the turnpike from Orlando to Miami every day. The only tolls most tourists to Miami pay are on the Beachline Expwy. from the airport to I-4 and back. And those you can pay with cash.
And $9 is a lot since the highest amount listed for any rental car company on the Sunpass website is $7.49.

It's more of a convenience. You're not going to spend $9 a day in tolls, but some of the toll lines are long, so having an EPass makes it simple because you just keep on driving through the EPASS lane. If you don't mind sitting in line to pay tolls then you don't need it. That's $54 for 6 days.If you really want a transmitter you can buy an EPASS transmitter at CVS and activate it for $25.00. (plus tolls)

You pay at each tollbooth on the toll roads. on the Florida Turnpike you get carry of a card that is stamped on get right of entry to and you pay the finished upon exiting the turnpike. some toll cubicles take real exchange whilst others will supply exchange

You would just have to pay cash at the toll booths, which is no big deal. You have the inconvenience of stopping your car. The lines are usually very short or nonexistent anyway

You don't need it! Interetate 4 is tool free as is US 192. You would be very hard pressed trying to spend $9 a day in tolls.
