Storing passwords in text file...?

I store my usernames and passwords in a plain text file that's stored in my documents folder on a Windows machine. Is this bad? Can that file be accessed through the internet? In the past my address list for a particular email account has been used...

Thanks for any comments and advice.

Update:

Thanks for the answers so far, especially Chris & Charlie. The middle answer link is for a paid site. I'll let this run a few days and then choose a best answer.

Update 2:

Good answers. Thanks for all. It's always difficult to choose a best answer but I will anyway.

Well yes that could be bad. If a hacker got a hold of it they would have all your passwords. You should probably write them down or you could store them on a thumb drive or you could look into file encryption. If you don't do any of these things at least don't name the file passwords. A good name to hide that file would be Readme.txt it would most likely be over looked by anyone trying to find important information.

if you get any malware on your system, like a RAT, then you'd be serving them up on a silver platter, although any kind of keylogger would lead to similar results.

Storing them in a text file or saved in a browser probably bring an equal amount of risk.
