Has anyone had a painless time getting VA benefits?

It's been 7 months, and I know that it might be much, much longer. I read nothing but horror stories about the process, so I'm wondering if anyone has actually had any success getting their stuff through (even if it took a while).

I know the Marine isn't going to believe me, but mine took only 2 months from my actual retirement date. I had my initial retirement physical 4 months before I actually did my final out and had a follow up physical by a doctor assigned by the VA, 30 days after I got out. I started receiving payments for my disability one month after that. How? I have a file cabinet full of copies and some originals of every scrap of paper the military ever gave me over my 24-year career. I every PCS order, TDY order and every training certificate. even have every LES I ever received...not kidding.

So, if the VA wants to ever try and prove I was or was not somewhere or injured somehow or in anyway, they would have a hard time disproving it. This also worked for my education benefits as well when I was overpaid by the VA. I got to keep the money because I proved my case via paperwork that I had issued BY THEM.

I still have not applied for everything that I am probably eligible for so maybe I am pushing my luck, but so far so good. If I ever have a problem, I live close enough to VA HQ in DC to walk in on them in person. from the experience of a few friends here who DID have problems, the DC office never turns anyone away before their issue is fixed.

The exceptional he's going to be equipped to do is call the 800 number for the VA and ask what the reputation of his declare is. It does take ceaselessly given that there are so many claims within the procedure. He wants to name and make sure his declare is correctly within the system and make sure he has carried out everything he wants to do to get it accomplished. In many instances there are further physicals or paperwork required and if he hasn't furnished what they need his declare goes on keep. If does suck however he wants to maybe absorb a weekly hobbies of calling the VA to ask the popularity and spot the place his declare is in the pipeline. My incapacity bureaucracy took about 7 months and that was once means back in 2004. My husband is still lively duty and his GI invoice claims for his Masters measure take 3 months to get through the procedure and paid. It is under no circumstances a fast approach however your son will have got to particularly get on them and speak to them to be certain matters are good enough. He'll get back pay but if his declare is lost or anything you are going to be ready even longer unless he finds out for definite where his declare is. Just right success.

My first application for compensation took about a year back in 2003, and my most recent is going on 2 years.

@MISO What does that have to do with it?
