  • Will I qualify for Virginia unemployment?

I was recently fired from a job I had for five years. I had no warnings, no write ups, but they said they had been auditing my activity for five months and that I had too much idle time and was reporting things incorrectly. Before this, I had suspected that a couple of managers were not happy with me because they were being snappish, so I confronted them and asked them if I had done something wrong, and they said no, I was fine and it was other things. This company has a habit of firing people out of the blue, with no warning, so I was paranoid about it. Fast forward a month, and I'm fired, and they knew the whole time.

Besides the fact that I fully disagree with what they were claiming, since there was no warning, and I even inquired about my job performance, can they still prevent me from getting unemployment?

  • Who can help my dutch friend get the pay she's earned?

We work for a subsidiary of a large US company on a website, she does translating work as well as full time moderating. It's a full time, hourly position. She was recently fired because they decided they only needed one dutch person, but then the other one quit so they hired her back. The lapse in time has screwed up her pay It has now been 3 months without pay, and although she emails and calls every day, nobody can give her answers (or write a check, I guess!). Is there anyone outside the company she can contact to make them pay her? She's got to have some rights here.

  • Has anyone had a painless time getting VA benefits?

It's been 7 months, and I know that it might be much, much longer. I read nothing but horror stories about the process, so I'm wondering if anyone has actually had any success getting their stuff through (even if it took a while).

  • How much is my amended return going to be?

We recieved a corrected W-2 with our income increasing by 600 dollars and the federal withheld increasing from 6000 to 10000 dollars. Will we get nearly 4000 dollars back with our amended return, or is the math much more complicated than that? :)

  • Deposit not returned after 45 days?

I moved out over 60 days ago from my rental house in VA, and I haven't received anything yet from the company handling my landlord's rentals (century 21). I emailed the representative I dealt with while I lived there, and they claimed that it was sent. If I took them to court, how could i prove that they didn't send it at all? Couldn't they just say that it was lost in the mail or something? I requested the woman send it to me in email and she agreed, but never sent that either. That was over a month ago.

  • Questions about Home of Record move?

Hi, My husband is being discharged for PRT failure, and we are told that he is going to have only a ten day notice before we know the exact date of his separation. We would like to go ahead and move me and our things home ourselves while he stays here to finish up. However, I am confused about when we can move. Do we have to wait for his orders to move to be reimbursed for moving costs? Can I move now and then submit all the papers to get refunded after his orders come? Also who is in charge of this stuff, would it be legal or PSD? Thanks for any answers, I hate all this stuff up in the air!!!

  • Is my wisdom tooth getting infected or is it just irritating my gums?

My gums are a little sore, but something that leads me to believe that it could be infected is that the muscle in my cheek hurts a bit when I smile. The pain is very mild, but I want to be on the lookout for an infection. I've also been sick which I heard can increase your risk for infection. I have been rinsing with warm salt water. Any ideas? P.S. Please don't tell me "Go to the dentist." Supremely unhelpful. :)

  • Does this mean something? Creepy baby behavior?

My baby cousin (adopted by my mom) just turned 2, and for her birthday I gave her a color wonder coloring book with Diego (Dora's friend). We put her in the back seat and gave her a marker and let her go at it. After we arrived to dinner, we pulled her out, and at dinner I looked at the pictures she colored. As I flipped through the pages, I saw that she had turned to each page and scribbled in all the eyes. Diego's, his cheetah friend's, and all the other animals. Nothing else, just the eyes. I really didn't know what to make of it, but it was kind of creepy! I know that when kids are young they first learn to draw they draw the eyes and mouth because those are the things that they are drawn to. What do you think? Creepy? Normal?

  • Where can I find healthy, easy recipes for 2?

I'm a below-average cook with very little interest in cooking, but I feel like my husband and I eat out way too often. Fast food, take out, or sit down restaurants nearly every day. I also recently found out I have borderline high cholesterol.

I don't like spending an hour or more cooking only to eat a meal in less than 15 minutes and have leftovers that are wasted. Plus there's always the chance that I'll flub the recipe and it will be inedible or disappointing. I'm not interested in counting calories or losing weight, but rather I want to start eating a whole lot more veggies and fresh food. I was raised on pork chops, meat loaf, fried chicken, spaghetti, etc. I have no idea how to cook interesting veggie dishes. Anyone have recommendations for websites or books that sound like they might help?

  • Can kidney stones cause urethra pressure?

I have had maybe 3 kidney stones in the last month, and recently I am feeling pressure inside of my urethra. I haven't seen any pass but I haven't been keeping track. Can kidney stones cause this? I feel like it's a similar feeling to a UTI as well. I'm trying to decide if I should see a doc about a UTI or if it can just be part of the stones.

  • How can I clean my alto sax?

I have a student sax, I played for about six years throughout middle and high school. I graduated in 2004 and in the 5 years since have played it possibly 4 times on a whim. I found a community band I want to join, but my horn is in baaad shape. Apparently I didn't take great care of it, the inside is pretty gross and the tiny pad on the neck is green (yuck I know). How can I clean this to the best of my ability until I can get it to a professional?

  • How can I get a copy of my husband's orders? (Navy)?

My husband is a submariner, we have orders to Norfolk but he recently was sent temporarily to another boat as a rider. Can I still get a copy of his orders to VA or have those been cancelled since he is temporarily with another boat stationed in GA? I need it to qualify for in-state college tuition. Who do I contact to get a copy? I don't know who our current ombudsman is.

  • Does a fat person have a higher alcohol tolerance than someone of the same height and build?

I'm just wondering because I just read that fat doesn't absorb alcohol. I'm a fat but otherwise petite (5'1") woman with small bone structure and I have a pretty low tolerance.

  • How do I do the student interest part of taxes?

We have already done our joint federal taxes but I still need to do my state taxes. I just realized that I have paid student loan interest for at least 350 dollars, but I don't know if I should try to file for those and how. Would I have to do my whole federal over again or is it another form or what?
