Antibiotics question?

Are certain antibiotics only good for problems they're prescribed for, or can you just take them and they'll attack any other problems, too. I'd like to save myself another trip to the doctor if I can.

it depends on the antibiotic there are antibiotics that are for specific medical conditions and then there are broad spectrum antibiotics that are prescribed for many different bacterial infections:

    Amoxicillin

    Imipenem

    Levofloxacin, gatifloxacin, moxifloxacin

These are all broad spectrum antibiotics used to treat things UTI, strepthroat, ear infections, etc....

Different antibiotics kill different bacteria. Some bacteria are immune to some antibiotics.

Now, most antibiotics will be good for a wide range of diseases. Also, the same bacteria can often cause a sore throat or an infected cut...what bacteria you have doesn't always correspond to what health problem you have,
