Parched corn in a cloth bag: how long will it stay good? Shelf life?
Assume It is in a backpack in a climate controlled basement in a "duck cloth" (light cotton canvas) bag. Would it make any difference what kind of oil I fried it in? On hand I have olive oil, lard or cheap vegetable oil but I can get whatever would be best.

make sure you drain it really well as some oils tend to sour, i personally would use vegetable or peanut oil. it should keep for at least a few weeks, just take out a few pieces a week to make sure its still good. It will keep for years in an airtight container, just make sure to put an oxygen absorber in.
