Can I get a Dealers License so I can buy and sell used cars legally?

** I live in Connecticut**

Title pretty much says it all. I like to buy and sell cars from my home by searching for good deals and then cleaning them up and checking them out and selling them to make a profit. I know each state limits a normal citizen to how many cars per year they can sell so would it be wise to get a car dealers license so I can sell more? I looked on the DMV's website and for a used car dealer license it says I need to have a shop, signs of customers rights need to be posted, a mechanic needs to be on duty, etc, etc.

I dont want to do all that. I would like to go to the dealer auctions and buy cars there and sell them from my home. Is this possible/legal? What else can I do?

Thanks!!

Basically you can buy/sell used cars privately to your hearts content without paying all the fees and license. Solution is to register the vehicle in your name while paying the sales tax and registration fees, and while waiting for the title you can be repairing/paint/tires etc and have a legally registerd car to drive in the meantime. The state is interested in the "tax" revenue. There is no law that says you are limited into how many vehicles you can own at one time.

That is going to rely upon the legal guidelines in your vacation spot nation. What do they require with a purpose to title a car? Do you must have the title from Canada? Do you want a vendor license to your vacation spot country so as promote enormous numbers of automobiles or even to sell at all? Does it subject which part of the Canadian title is filled out, whether it is marked as being offered to a vendor? Without knowing what nation you're shipping the automobiles to, it can be generally impossible to answer these questions, so it is inconceivable to answer your query. Also, if the auction requires you to have a seller's license, you'll better get a vendor's license.

don't think so i've seen the same people selling cars on Craigslist that don't have a license. selling the cars from their home that don't have a license. have neighbor who sells nothing but subaru's. go to his house and you'll see 3 or 4 subaru's in his driveway they are sold then goes out and gets 3 or 4 more . he goes to the public auctions so doesn't need the u/c license. best bet do that till enough money to get the actual license
