  • At LEAST 6 weeks

I didn't wait but 3 weeks after the birth of my 2nd. I ended up with a NASTY uterine infection. They wanted to remove my uterus but I REFUSED so they instead put me in a medically induced coma and was on major IV med's for 5 days. I wasn't able to breastfeed, I wasn't able to care for my newborn, I not only almost lost my uterus but my life as well.

They don't tell you no sex for 6 weeks for their health but for YOURS.

Your uterus is a HUGE gaping open wound from where the placenta was attached. Your EXTREMELY prone to getting an infection prior to this healing up and it takes a minimum of 6 weeks for this to happen. You're not an animal with no self control. Show your body some respect and let it heal from the trauma it just endured.

I ended up being septic and damn near lost my life

  • Wait until your postpartum doc appt and see what he/she has to say. Dont do it b4 6 weeks u do not want to hurt anything plus u are not healed completly. Just wait it out to be safe.

6 weeks just like everyone else. Internally it takes about that long to fully heal regardless of how you gave birth.

The general rule is 6 weeks but if you are ready and not in any pain then go for it!
